Resumen
Introduction: Social networks have transformed the interaction between governments and citizens, and Facebook offers a key space to disseminate information and foster two-way communication. This study identifies priority policies in the Facebook publications of the local government of Piura, Peru, between April 18 and June 8, 2024. Methodology: It was structured in three phases: data collection, organization, and analysis. The quantitative analysis measured the frequency of topics and interactions, while the qualitative analysis focused on identifying political trends. Results: Public policies are focused on public safety, control of street commerce, and informal transportation, prioritizing water services, parks, bridges, and roads. Art, culture, entrepreneurship, and employment are promoted. Citizen participation includes food assistance and support for early education, and environmental management focuses on sustainability and waste management. Discussion: Not all policies should be infrastructure-oriented. Adopting forward-looking measures that address disaster preparedness, community resilience, and education would contribute to a better society. Conclusions: Prioritized policies are security, territorial and economic development, citizen participation, and environmental sustainability. However, disaster preparedness remains a weakness. A comparative analysis between previous and current administrations is recommended to evaluate progress and areas for improvement.
