Personal profile

I am a physician-surgeon in epidemiology and a Neurosciences Researcher. I was Medical Director of the Global Health Center of the Peruvian University Cayetano Heredia, in the Tumbes region from 2011-2020; in charge of the Clinical Unit, a unit in charge of the diagnosis, follow-up and monitoring of patients with epilepsy. My skills are to carry out population-based epidemiological studies on neurological diseases such as epilepsy, cerebrovascular disease, dementia and headache associated with an infectious etiology; also studies on cardiovascular health and parasitic infectious diseases such as Neurocysticercosis, one of the leading causes of epilepsy in developing countries. I have conducted field studies on parasitic diseases caused by helminths, mycobacteria (mycobacterium ulcerans) and viruses such as Zika. I have a PhD in Life and Environmental Sciences with a mention in Public Health from the University of Limoges in France. I work for the Peruvian Government at the Institute of Legal Medicine and Forensic Sciences. I am the physician in charge of the Contralmirante Villar I Legal Medical Unit. I am a professor at the National University of Tumbes and an associate researcher at the Peruvian University Cayetano Heredia and the Cesar Vallejo University.
